Admissions Policy

LTRW Tuition Academy

Effective Date: 18th February 2026
Last Amended: 22nd March 2026

1. Purpose

This policy outlines the structured admissions process at LTRW Tuition Academy.

The Academy operates a selective entry model, designed to ensure that each student admitted is appropriately placed within a disciplined, high-expectation learning environment where meaningful academic progress can be sustained.

2. Admissions Philosophy

LTRW Tuition Academy is not an open-access provision.

Admission is based on a clear principle:

Students are enrolled where there is strong alignment between their current attainment, potential and the Academy’s structured academic approach.

This ensures:

  • Consistent academic standards across all groups

  • Focused and purposeful learning environments

  • Measurable and sustained student progress

3. Entry Criteria

Primary Programmes (Years 4–6)

Students are typically:

  • Working at age-related expectations (Secure), or

  • Demonstrating clear potential to reach this level with structured support

Secondary Programmes (Years 7, 8 and 11)

  • Year 7 & Year 8:
Students must be working at Progress 4–5 (Secure) or above

  • Year 11:
Students must be secure at the Progress 6 standard

These thresholds ensure students can engage fully with the academic pace and expectations of the Academy.

4. Admissions Process

All applications follow a structured pathway:

Step 1: Initial Enquiry

Parents submit a brief enquiry outlining:

  • Student’s current year group

  • Current attainment (if known)

  • Areas of support required

Step 2: Review & Invitation

The Academy reviews the enquiry and, where appropriate, invites the student to attend a formal assessment sitting.

Step 3: Assessment Sitting

Students complete a structured assessment in:

  • English

  • Mathematics

  • Comprehension

This enables accurate evaluation of:

  • Current attainment

  • Academic readiness

  • Suitability for placement

Step 4: Placement Decision

Following the assessment, one of the following outcomes is communicated:

  • Offer of Placement

  • Conditional Recommendation (with guidance)

  • No Placement Offered (with optional direction where appropriate)

All decisions are made using professional academic judgement aligned with the Academy’s standards.

5. Assessment Pathways

LTRW Tuition Academy offers two distinct assessment routes, designed to meet different stages of the admissions journey.

Standard Entry Assessment Sitting – £60

This is the Academy’s core admissions assessment.

  • Conducted in a structured group setting

  • Covers English, Mathematics and Comprehension

  • Used to determine academic readiness and placement suitability

  • Forms the basis of all standard admissions decisions

This pathway is appropriate for the majority of applicants.

1–2–1 Initial Assessment – £75 - £90

This is a private, individual assessment conducted with a senior member of the academic team.

  • Delivered on a one-to-one basis

  • Provides a more detailed diagnostic evaluation

  • Includes immediate observational insight into learning behaviours

  • Suitable for families seeking a more personalised admissions consultation

This pathway is recommended where:

  • A student presents with a more complex academic profile

  • Parents require deeper diagnostic feedback prior to placement

6. Class Structure & Capacity

  • Classes operate with a minimum of 6 students

  • The maximum capacity is 12 students per class

This ensures:

  • Academic rigour

  • Individual attention

  • Behavioural consistency

Places are limited and allocated based on suitability and availability.

7. Academic Expectations

Students enrolled at LTRW Tuition Academy are expected to:

  • Engage with focus and consistency

  • Demonstrate attention to detail

  • Respond positively to structured teaching

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and effort

The Academy is designed for students prepared to work within a disciplined and purposeful academic environment.

8. Equal Opportunities

LTRW Tuition Academy is committed to being an equal opportunities organisation.

Applications are welcomed from all students who meet the academic criteria, regardless of background.

Admissions decisions are based solely on:

  • Academic readiness

  • Potential for progress

  • Suitability for the Academy’s structured environment

9. Waiting Lists

Where programmes reach capacity:

  • Suitable students may be placed on a waiting list

  • Places are offered as they become available

  • Re-assessment may be required in some cases

10. Review & Amendments

LTRW Tuition Academy reserves the right to review and update this Admissions Policy periodically to ensure alignment with:

  • Academic standards
